PCS 140th Anniversary Combined Prayer Meeting Brings Together the PCS Family

The Presbyterian churches in Singapore are meeting weekly online to share their stories, ministry work and matters in the Presbyterian family through prayer meetings.

Every five years, The Presbyterian Church in Singapore (PCS) will hold a commemorative physical combined service for its anniversary, but due to the pandemic, this year, PCS will commemorate its 140th year with a series of special events.

This includes the key online service “Day of Worship & Prayer”, which will go live on Synod Office’s YouTube channel on 11 July 2021 (Sunday). The service will focus on the work of, as well as prayer items for the Synod and Presbyteries, and will be pre-recorded. Member churches may wish to coincide their service with the online service.

Also, starting right after Easter Sunday, is the weekly Combined Prayer Meeting, which happens every Wednesday evening across 14 weeks (except the week of Synod AGM). Every week, three churches (out of the 37 EP & CP churches, including Presbyterian Community Services and All Saints Home) will share about their history, ministries, as well as prayer items. The first Combined Prayer Meeting was held on 7th April at Providence Presbyterian Church, where the congregation gathered for a physical service. General Secretary of PCS, Rev Teo Yew Tiong, was the first emcee to kickstart the series of meetings, welcoming one and all to join in the prayer online and offline. A total of around 250 people attended the first session physically and via YouTube Live.

Since the first week, approximately 1500 people have watched the livestreams over the past 3 weeks, as we prayed for Providence PC, Christian Agape Fellowship, Abundant Grace PC, Adam Road PC, All Saints PC, Amazing Grace PC, Singapore Life Church, Holy Grace PC and Yung Kwang PC.

We continue to invite all fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to join us in the weekly Prayer Meetings on Synod Office's YouTube channel every Wednesday at 8pm, as we learn about each church, hear them share about their good works and pray together as a body of Christ.
