Livestream and Sermon Production Workshop for Churches

When pandemic struck without a warning earlier this year, everyone was forced to stay at home, and all church services had to be moved online. Pastors struggled with recording sermons and producing videos, church members struggled with getting used to the new way of worship and gathering. Many churches were asking: How do we do online Sunday services? How do I record a good video, to edit a video? In what ways can I better communicate with the congregation online?

In response to the issue, the Synod Office organised a Livestream and Sermon Production Workshop on 9 December, 8PM via Zoom. The workshop aimed to bring mainly those involved in the AV ministry in church together to have a dialogue, as well as encourage the sharing of knowledge and resources between the churches. A total of 59 participants attended the 1.5-hour workshop.

We are also thankful to the representatives from Covenant Presbyterian Church, Providence Presbyterian Church and Chen Li Presbyterian Church who took the time to prepare a short sharing of their current setups in their churches, which participants found insightful, as mentioned in a survey done after the workshop. A Facebook group for those serving in the AV ministry is also now open, where members can discuss issues and share resources on video editing, livestream production and more.

During the workshop, the General Secretary of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore, Rev Teo Yew Tiong, also made a report regarding the Synod Solidarity Initiative (SSI), which is now open for registrations for the second time. Churches are able to apply for grant for the following:

1. Video Equipment Grant for Worship Services;
2. Basic video equipment (such as tablet/iPad, smart TV, etc.) and 3-month Broadband subscription; and
3. Kickstart Grant for Homeless Ministry (S3P)

Applications are on a first-come-first-serve basis. For those interested to apply for this grant, you may reach out to your senior pastor.
