Presbyterian Education Council Dedication Dinner 2018
To God be the glory! Presbyterian Education Council (PEC) Dedication Dinner 2018 was hosted by Presbyterian High School on 12 January 2018. It was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Rt Rev Teo Yew Tiong, Synod Moderator. Teaching and non-teaching staff of 5 schools (Grace Orchard School, Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary School, Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School, Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School and Presbyterian High School) gathered together on a yearly basis along with their School Management Board members and other distinguished guests to celebrate their hard work and to re-dedicate themselves to another year of work in schools as well. Rev Srimal Marthenis, the Senior Minister of Ang Mo Kio Presbyterian Church (AMKPC) and an alumnus of Presbyterian High School (PHS), gave the exhortation. He shared from Galatians 6:9 on the theme of “Reaping in Due Seasons”. He encouraged the teachers and non-teachers alike that at times they might drained by the work and limited resources. They could also be discouraged when their efforts were unappreciated or they could not see the fruits the ministry. But Galatians 6:9 promised that “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Rev Srimal shared from his life how he had reaped a harvest from a teacher who toiled and was patient with him during his secondary school days. It was difficult for him to learn Chinese but the teacher motivated him and he was encouraged not to give up. He also shared that there are 4 ex-PHS students who are now pastors of AMKPC and serving in PHS. The school ministry had impacted them in their foundational years. They came to know Christ through the school and their lives have been shaped and moulded through different aspects of the school ministry. Everyone was treated to a sumptuous 8 course meal and had a hearty fellowship that night. Everyone was entertained by performance by the Guzheng ensemble, dance ensemble and staff performance by the school. All the teachers also recited the teachers’ pledge to re-dedicate themselves to another year of service in school.
