2014 PEC Dedication Service cum Dinner
The 9th annual Presbyterian Education Council (PEC) Dedication Service cum Dinner was held on 17 January 2014 at Presbyterian High School (PHS). Among the 500 guests was our Guest-of-Honour, NIE Director, Professor Lee Sing Kong. It was a time of celebration and thanksgiving of God's goodness and faithfulness and rededicating ourselves for another year of service to God. The start of the function featured traditional snacks such as kachang puteh and cotton candy, leading the guests to reminisce the good old days. Next was a welcome speech by Mr Lim Yan Hock, the principal of PHS, followed by a time of worship. Professor Lee then delivered a message on the theme of the evening, 'Educate to Care, Care to Educate'. He spoke on our purpose and special calling as educators and urged us to exercise compassion to reach out to the children under our charge and meet their needs beyond academics. Our Synod Vice Moderator cum PEC chairman, Rev. Tan Cheng Huat then commended and dedicated all co-workers, followed by welcoming new school staff and stakeholders to such a meaningful ministry. A special highlight for this year's event was the launch of PEC-Learning Point writi ng competition, a joint effort of the Presbyterian schools and Learning Point, a private education centre that provides quality English Language enrichment courses. With the theme of 'cyber wellness', we hope to educate our students on balancing cyber communications with preventive measures that guard against misuse. Finally, the event ended with the recitation of the Teachers' Pledge led by Principal Lim Yan Hock. The benediction was given by the Synod Moderator, Rt Rev. Leow Khee Fatt.
