Synod Training and Exposure Programme (STEP) 2022
9 - 27 May 2022

The Synod will be resuming its eight Synod Training and Exposure Programme (STEP) with adherence to the latest COVID-19 restrictions.

The programme aims to further encourage our youths to have:

  • A deeper appreciation of the Presbyterian doctrine and practices
  • A greater awareness of spiritual growth and ministry opportunity in his/her local church
  • A wider experience of how The Presbyterian Church in Singapore is serving God, the church and the society.

Program Overview

  • Introduction to Presbyterian heritage and The Presbyterian Church in Singapore's organizational structure. Participants will also be tasked to trace the history of their churches to understand their roots.
  • Seminars on theology, leadership, social engagement and counselling.
  • Exposure to different Christian traditions and church cultures in Singapore.
  • Seminars for interns to discuss and exchange ideas on how to improve their ministry.

Programme dates: 9 May (Monday) to 27 May 2022 (Friday)

The objective of STEP is to equip and inspire young adults to serve in local Presbyterian churches. We encourage you to mobilize your church's youths who have leadership potential to take part in STEP.

Each participant will also receive an allowance of $500, with 60% subsidy coming from the Synod and 40% from the supporting church.

Speakers

Spanning over a period of 3 weeks, the participants will be taught by 19 carefully selected speakers through a total of 36 insightful sessions. To mention a few of our speakers, they include: Rev. Dr. Edmund Fong, Rev. Dr. Lim Tau Wei, Rev. Dr. Samuel Law, Rev. Dr. Maggie Low and many more.

Learning Sessions

Some of these sessions taking place at the seminaries and churches include: Presbyterian Theology, Hermeneutics, Sacraments, Worship, Biblical Counselling, Singlehood, Dating & Marriage, and even a panel of speakers sharing on why they choose to become full-time pastors.

We believe this will be an invaluable opportunity for the participants to grow in their spiritual maturity growth and develop Christ-centered servant-leadership.
