Synod Mission Council Opens Local Mission Consultation 2021

The recently released Singapore Census of Population 2020 revealed religious inclinations and trends of Singaporeans, including changes in the proportion of religious groups and an increase in atheist individuals. These shifts reflect the Government's policies in education, as well as political & cultural changes, which influence Singaporeans' attitudes towards religion.

The Church is commissioned to enter the world as a testament of God's mercy and love. As such, she needs to remain sensitive to current circumstances. While we believe that the Gospel at its core remains unchanged, the mode of Missiology should adapt with changing times. The understanding of different mission models allows churches refer to and adapt them in different mission situations.

The Synod Mission Council is organising a local mission consultation in commemoration of The Presbyterian Church in Singapore's 140th Anniversary. The scope of the consultation includes: 1) The Integration of Missional Theology, and 2) Social and Political Changes in Singapore & Rethinking the Mission Models of the Church. All pastoral staff and church leaders serving in missions of PCS churches are invited to participate and take the opportunity to grow together.
