Join the Family Violence Talk for All Church Members This August
As families find themselves gathered together under one roof due to regulations to curb the spread of the pandemic, while some families benefited with stronger relationships built, some find themselves in heightened tensions due to the frequent friction in a confined space. Earlier on May 14, Channel News Asia (CNA) reported a 22% increase in family violence reports since start of circuit breaker period, with 476 police reports were filed within a month from April to May. This issue is affecting quite a number our church members, with approximately 10% out of the 940 responses in our Survey done by our church members agreeing or strongly agreeing that either their relationship with family members has gotten worse, or quarrels are happening more frequently. Hence, this is a problem that we should not be taking lightly. As such, the Synod has teamed up with Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to organise a Family Violence talk in both Mandarin and English, on 19 August (Mandarin) and 26 August (English) 2020 respectively. The talk aims to equip individuals to recognise the signs of family violence, and educate on the methods to intervene and seek help in this kind of situation. Family Violence Talk
